The Techiman North District Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), in collaboration with the District Environmental Health Unit, has launched an initiative dubbed “Operation Clean Your Frontage” to promote environmental cleanliness and improve sanitation across the district.
The exercise, which takes effect throughout the month of July, requires all residents, business owners, and occupants of premises within the district to keep their surroundings clean by ensuring that drains, refuse sites, bushy areas, and the frontages of their properties are free from waste and other obstructions.
According to a public notice issued by the District Directorate, the campaign forms part of efforts to promote a clean and healthy environment while reducing sanitation-related challenges that pose risks to public health.
The notice further stated that officials from the Environmental Health Unit and NADMO will undertake routine inspections across communities within the district to assess compliance with the directive. Individuals, institutions, or businesses found flouting sanitation regulations will be sanctioned in accordance with the law.
The District Directorate called on residents to support the initiative by taking responsibility for maintaining clean surroundings, stressing that environmental sanitation is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of every member of the community.
NADMO expressed confidence that with the cooperation of residents and other stakeholders, the district would achieve a cleaner environment capable of reducing the incidence of sanitation-related diseases and enhancing the overall well-being of the population.
