The Bono East Regional Minister has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the region.
The Minister made this known after receiving the Bono East Regional Commander of NACOC, SNCO Portia Abuwie Demuyakor, who paid a courtesy call on him to discuss areas of partnership aimed at promoting a safer and healthier environment for residents.
The engagement focused on deepening cooperation between the Regional Coordinating Council and NACOC, particularly in addressing the growing concerns surrounding substance abuse, the illegal trade of narcotic substances, and their impact on the youth and communities.
The Minister expressed appreciation for the visit and the commitment of NACOC towards protecting communities from the dangers associated with drug abuse. He noted that tackling the menace requires a collective effort involving state institutions, traditional authorities, civil society organizations, families, and communities.
He stressed the importance of sustained public education, preventive measures, and stronger institutional collaboration to reduce the negative effects of drug-related activities and safeguard the future of young people in the Bono East Region.
SSNCO Portia Abuwie Demuyakor, during the visit, highlighted the need for continued support and partnership from stakeholders to enhance NACOC’s efforts in combating narcotic-related offences and promoting awareness on the dangers of substance abuse.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by stakeholders in the region to build stronger partnerships in addressing social challenges and ensuring the safety, health, and wellbeing of residents.
The Regional Minister assured NACOC of his readiness to work closely with the Commission and other relevant agencies to advance initiatives that will contribute to a drug-free and prosperous Bono East Region.
