The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has cautioned the general public against investing in two suspected fraudulent investment schemes operating under the names Yepbit Exchange and Bonchat.
In a public notice issued on July 15, 2026, the Commission said the two entities are soliciting investments from members of the public through digital crypto-asset platforms without being licensed to operate by the SEC.
According to the Commission, Yepbit Exchange and Bonchat are not authorised to provide investment or trading services in Ghana, urging the public to exercise extreme caution before committing funds to either platform.

The SEC advised prospective investors to verify the licensing status of any entity offering investment or trading services before making any financial commitments. It also warned the public to be wary of schemes that promise unusually high or guaranteed returns, as such offers are often associated with fraudulent investment operations.
Additionally, the Commission cautioned against investment models that rely primarily on recruiting new participants to generate earnings, urging members of the public to report suspicious investment platforms to the SEC for investigation.
The notice forms part of the Commission’s mandate to regulate and promote the growth of an efficient, fair and transparent securities market while ensuring the protection of investors and maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s capital market.
The SEC issued the directive pursuant to Sections 3 and 208(c) of the Securities Industry Act, 2016 (Act 929), as amended, and reiterated its commitment to protecting investors from fraudulent investment schemes operating in the country.
