The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, says the Volta Region is witnessing remarkable infrastructural transformation under the government’s Resetting Ghana agenda, with major investments in roads and other critical sectors improving the lives of residents.
According to him, the level of commitment demonstrated by President John Dramani Mahama towards the development of the region is yielding visible results, with infrastructure projects being implemented from the district level through to the regional level.
Speaking on the progress of development in the region, Mr. Gunu said, “The commitment level, the passion of His Excellency the President himself is so refreshing. Today, if you come to the Volta Region, you will realize a great change in terms of infrastructure development. Infrastructure development from the district assembly level to the regional level and the national sectors. These aspects are seeing significant development in the region.”
He cited the road sector as one of the major beneficiaries of the government’s intervention, noting that contractors are actively working on several roads under the Big Push infrastructure programme.
“Roads, for instance, today we have contractors working on that road and that is part of the Big Push project. The way the Ministry of Roads and Highways, led by Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, has packaged this project is making it very competitive, and some sections are being asphalted as we speak.”
Mr. Gunu expressed confidence that the ongoing projects will accelerate socio-economic development across the Volta Region and reaffirmed government’s commitment to completing all major infrastructure projects to improve connectivity, stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life of residents.
