The Deputy Bono East Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahama Seidu Liman, has called for the dissolution of all camps within the party, saying unity and collective purpose are essential if the NPP is to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the existence of factions and camps at various levels of the party continues to pose a major threat to its cohesion and electoral prospects. He cautioned that if the internal divisions are not addressed, they could undermine efforts to reposition the party ahead of the next general elections.
Mr. Liman made the call during an interview on Classic FM’s morning programme hosted by Nana Sieh Amakye, where he urged party members to put the interests of the NPP above personal ambitions and factional politics.
He stressed that the party’s focus should now be on rebuilding trust, strengthening its structures and fostering reconciliation among members from the polling station level to the national leadership.
According to the Deputy Regional Secretary, the NPP has always achieved greater success when its members work together with a common purpose. He therefore appealed to party executives, supporters, parliamentary aspirants and other stakeholders to abandon camp politics and embrace unity.
Mr. Liman noted that internal competition is a normal feature of democratic political parties, but such competition should not result in entrenched divisions that weaken the party after internal elections.
He said every member, irrespective of the camp or individual they previously supported, has a responsibility to contribute to rebuilding the party and preparing it for victory in the 2028 polls.
The Deputy Regional Secretary further urged party faithful to respect one another, resolve differences through dialogue and remain committed to the ideals of the NPP, stressing that the party’s collective interest must take precedence over individual preferences.
He expressed confidence that with unity, discipline and effective grassroots mobilization, the NPP would be well-positioned to reconnect with the electorate and mount a strong campaign ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr. Liman appealed to all supporters and leaders of the party to close ranks and work together towards a common objective, emphasizing that the dissolution of all camps would create a more united front capable of restoring public confidence and improving the NPP’s chances of returning to government in 2028.
