Tryton Motors Ghana Limited has entered into a sponsorship partnership with Jonina Football Academy in a move aimed at supporting the development of women’s football and promoting the growth of female talent in Ghana.
The partnership was formalised at a signing ceremony attended by officials from the football fraternity, representatives of Tryton Motors, invited guests and other stakeholders in the sports industry.
The sponsorship is expected to provide much-needed financial and logistical support to Jonina Football Academy, a club competing in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, while creating new opportunities for the development of its players and technical team.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Executive Officer of Jonina Football Academy, Hon. Betty Seyram Krosbi Mensah, described the agreement as a major breakthrough in the club’s history and a positive development for women’s football in the country.
She noted that the partnership represents the academy’s first major corporate sponsorship, explaining that women’s clubs have historically faced significant challenges in attracting private sector investment despite their immense potential.
According to her, the decision by Tryton Motors to invest in the academy demonstrates growing confidence in women’s football and reflects a shared commitment to empowering young female athletes to achieve their full potential.
Hon. Betty Seyram Krosbi Mensah appealed to more companies and corporate organisations to support women’s sports, stressing that increased sponsorship would enhance player development, improve club administration and contribute to the overall growth of the women’s game in Ghana.
She expressed optimism that the collaboration would strengthen the academy’s long-term vision, provide better opportunities for players and encourage more young girls to pursue football as a profession.
The partnership is expected to deepen private sector participation in women’s football while contributing to efforts aimed at making the women’s game more competitive, sustainable and attractive to aspiring female footballers across the country.
