esidents of Nkoranza Municipality and surrounding communities in the Bono East Region can now access Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) services closer to home following the commissioning of a new office in the municipality.
The new facility is expected to reduce the burden on motorists and prospective drivers who previously travelled to Techiman or Kintampo to register vehicles and motorcycles, obtain driver’s licences, renew roadworthy certificates and access other DVLA services.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Julius NeeQuaye Kotey, assured traditional authorities, the clergy and residents that the Nkoranza office would provide all services offered by other DVLA offices across the country.
He encouraged residents to patronize the facility for their vehicle and licensing needs, warning against the use of unauthorized middlemen popularly known as “goro boys” within the premises.
Mr. Kotey said the Authority would not allow such activities at the new office and urged the public to deal directly with DVLA officials to ensure transparency and efficient service delivery.
He also introduced Ibrahim Bamba as the Manager of the Nkoranza DVLA office and charged him to maintain professionalism and prevent the operation of unauthorised agents at the facility.
The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South and Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, commended the DVLA management for establishing the office, describing it as an important intervention to improve access to public services in the municipality.
He expressed appreciation to the DVLA Chief Executive and his deputies for their support in ensuring that residents of Nkoranza gained access to a dedicated DVLA facility.
Hon. Agyekum also urged drivers and vehicle owners in Nkoranza and nearby communities to make full use of the office rather than travelling to other districts for services that are now available locally.
The establishment of the Nkoranza DVLA office forms part of the Authority’s efforts to decentralise operations and bring vehicle registration and licensing services closer to the public.
