The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, to its National Disciplinary Committee over petitions concerning recent public comments deemed detrimental to the party’s unity and cohesion.
The party’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, said the decision followed the receipt of petitions against Mr. Agyapong and forms part of the party’s internal processes for addressing disciplinary matters.
“Our position is that we have referred all petitions received regarding Honorable Kennedy Agyapong to the National Disciplinary Committee, and we have given them two weeks because we wanted to really make sure that in two weeks we deal with this matter.” Mr. Boakye said.
He explained that upon completion of the committee’s work, the National Executive Committee would consider the findings before taking any further action.
“So in two weeks, the National Executive Committee will receive the report, and then we will again convene a meeting for us to discuss these matters.” he added.
The move comes amid concerns within the party over recent public remarks by the former lawmaker, which some members believe could undermine party unity and cohesion.
