Aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, says he is seeking to become the National Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to build a stronger and more sophisticated communications structure for the party.
Mr Aboagye said his ambition is to develop a communications architecture capable of effectively communicating the party’s position, scrutinising the government and presenting the NPP’s alternative policies to Ghanaians.
“I want to build one of the most sophisticated communications architectures that this country has seen in recent times,” he said.
According to him, the NPP, as an opposition party, has a responsibility to keep Ghanaians informed about the performance of the government while offering alternative solutions to the challenges facing the country.
“You see, as an opposition party, we have a responsibility to get the whole country talking about the government, the good, the bad, the ugly, and then what alternative we are proposing,” he stated.
Mr Aboagye said an effective communications strategy must go beyond criticism of the government and focus on presenting credible alternatives to the electorate.
He believes the NPP needs a coordinated communications system that can engage Ghanaians across different platforms while clearly articulating the party’s policies, ideas and vision.
His decision to contest the National Communications Officer position comes as the NPP prepares for its internal elections, with several party members positioning themselves for key leadership roles.
Mr Aboagye’s campaign is expected to focus on strengthening the party’s communication structures and improving how the NPP engages the public, particularly as it seeks to regain political relevance as an opposition party.
